Swedish Legal Tech Startup Legora Raises $50 Million in Series D Extension
Legora, an AI platform designed for lawyers, secured a $50 million extension to its Series D funding round led by Nvidia’s venture arm, NVentures, with the first close occurring in March. This extension increases the total Series D funding to $600 million and values the company at $5.5 billion, according to Crunchbase News. Atlassian, Adams Street Partners, and Insight Partners also participated in the extension.
Legora’s Funding History and Growth
The company, founded in 2023 by Max Junestrand, Sigge Labor, and August Erséus, has raised a total of $866 million to date. Prior to this round, Legora achieved a $1.8 billion valuation in October with a $150 million Series C funding. As widely known in the tech sector, AI-driven startups like Legora have seen rapid growth due to increasing demand for automation in professional services.
Trends in Legal Tech Investments
Venture funding for legal tech startups reached a record $4.08 billion in 2025, marking a 77.4% increase from the $2.3 billion raised in 2024, according to Crunchbase data. So far in 2026, legal tech startups have raised more than $1.3 billion, reflecting ongoing investor enthusiasm for AI applications in the legal field. Nvidia has been actively investing, backing over three dozen companies in 2026, including stakes in AI firms like OpenAI, Databricks, xAI, and ScaleAI.
Other Notable Legal Tech Fundings
In the past year, other legal tech companies have also closed significant rounds, such as Filevine raising $400 million in two undisclosed rounds led by Insight Partners, Accel, and Halo Experience Co. Harvey, a provider of AI tools for legal professionals, completed four funding rounds in 2025, including two of $300 million each, bringing its total funding to more than $1 billion. Additionally, Blue J raised $122 million in an August Series D led by Oak HC/FT and Sapphire Ventures, while Eudia secured up to $105 million in a Series A led by General Catalyst, according to Crunchbase News.
