Swedish AI Legal Tech Startup Legora Secures $50M Series D Extension
Legora, an AI platform built for lawyers, raised a $50 million extension to its Series D funding round from Nvidia’s venture arm, NVentures, according to Crunchbase News. This raise increases the Swedish company’s Series D total to $600 million, with the valuation set at $5.5 billion at the initial close in March.
Details of the Funding Round
The extension round included participation from Atlassian, Adams Street Partners, and Insight Partners. Legora, founded in 2023 by Max Junestrand, Sigge Labor, and August Erséus, has now raised a total of $866 million since its inception. The company’s valuation jumped from $1.8 billion after a $150 million Series C round last October, reflecting rapid growth in the AI legal tech sector.
Nvidia’s Investment Activity
Nvidia has backed over three dozen companies so far in 2026, including stakes in prominent AI firms such as OpenAI, Databricks, xAI, and ScaleAI, according to Crunchbase News. Additionally, Nvidia has made investments in power-generation-related companies, highlighting concerns about energy needs for AI technologies.
Trends in Legal Tech Funding
Venture funding for legal tech startups reached a record $4.08 billion in 2025, marking a 77.4% increase from the $2.3 billion raised in 2024. So far in 2026, legal tech startups have raised more than $1.3 billion. Other recent deals in the sector include Filevine raising $400 million, Harvey securing two $300 million rounds and totaling over $1 billion raised, Blue J obtaining $122 million in a Series D, and Eudia landing up to $105 million in a Series A.
