Swedish AI Startup Legora Secures $50M Funding Extension

Legora, an AI platform built for lawyers, raised a $50 million extension in its Series D funding round led by Nvidia’s venture arm, NVentures, according to CNBC reports cited in Crunchbase News. This extension brings the Swedish company’s Series D total to $600 million, with the first close occurring in March at a $5.5 billion valuation. Atlassian, Adams Street Partners, and Insight Partners also participated in the extension.

Legora’s Funding History and Growth

The company, founded in 2023 by Max Junestrand, Sigge Labor, and August Erséus, has now raised a total of $866 million. Legora’s valuation jumped to $5.5 billion in this round from $1.8 billion following a $150 million Series C round in October. Sigge Labor serves as president and Max Junestrand as CEO of the firm.

Nvidia’s Investment Activity

Nvidia has backed over three dozen companies in 2026, including stakes in prominent AI firms such as OpenAI, Databricks, xAI, and ScaleAI, according to Crunchbase News. The chip giant also maintains investments in power-generation-related ventures, reflecting broader interest in supporting AI infrastructure.

Venture funding for legal tech startups reached a record $4.08 billion in 2025, marking a 77.4% increase from $2.3 billion in 2024, per Crunchbase data. So far in 2026, legal tech startups have raised more than $1.3 billion. Other companies in the sector include Filevine, which announced $400 million in two rounds in September; Harvey, which closed four funding rounds in 2025 totaling over $1 billion and including two $300 million rounds; Blue J, which raised $122 million in an August Series D led by Oak HC/FT and Sapphire Ventures; and Eudia, which secured up to $105 million in a Series A led by General Catalyst.
