Mexico Extends Venture Lead Over Brazil in Q2
Mexico-based startups raised $944 million in the second quarter, according to Crunchbase News. This total exceeded Brazil’s $350 million and represented the region’s three largest deals.
Mexico Funding Surges
Mexico’s Q2 figure marked a 131% increase from $409 million in the same quarter of 2025 and a 136% rise from $401 million in Q1 2026. The amount approached the total raised by all Latin American startups in Q2 2025.
Brazil and Regional Totals
Brazil-headquartered startups raised $350 million in Q2 2026, down 11% from $363 million in Q2 2025 but up 20% from $270 million in Q1 2026. Latin American startups overall raised $1.36 billion in the quarter, according to Crunchbase News, up 47% year over year.
Late-stage and growth deals accounted for $991 million of the regional total, up 84% year over year.
Largest Deals
Five nine-figure rounds occurred in Latin America during Q2. Mexico City-based Clip raised $500 million in a private-equity round. Plata raised $405 million in a Series C led by Bicycle Capital. Kavak raised $300 million in a Series F co-led by WCM Investment Management and Andreessen Horowitz.
Additional rounds included Ualá’s $195 million Series led by Allianz X and Enter’s $100 million Series B led by Founders Fund.
Investor Activity
Gilgamesh Ventures, QED Investors, and Hi Ventures reported continued but selective activity focused on later stages and global themes, with Brazil and Mexico remaining primary markets.
